CIRTL - Women in STEM: Careers Panel Exploring Critical and/or Feminist STEM Teaching and Research

10-25-2017 1:00 PM

In the last of four events on women in STEM, we will introduce some of the possibilities of critical and feminist pedagogies in STEM teaching and research for those new to these approaches. Attention will be given to discuss the value of these approaches, as well as potential barriers.

Questions to consider include: • What is critical and/or feminist STEM teaching? And what is the difference between “good” teaching and “feminist” teaching? • How can STEM teaching and research practices address social justice and equity values? • What are some barriers or challenges with implementing feminist teaching and research practices (e.g. institutional, departmental, personal, etc.)? • What are some examples of Critical/Feminist STEM teaching and research practices?

The event will run from 2-3PM ET / 1-2PM CT / 12-1PM MT / 11AM-12PM PT.
